Zachary Bice

Zach joined the the Doerfler lab at the end of 2024 as Senior Research Technologist and lab manager. He earned his Bachelor's in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and has worked in a variety of research roles at the Medical College of Wisconsin before making the move next door to the VBRI.

His previous work focused on cerebral vascular biology, which has flowed nicely into the transition to blood research. At present, his focus in the Doerfler lab is on the genomic stability of edited blood stem cells. He has expertise in imaging techniques and a growing familiarity with single-cell genomics.

A Milwaukee native, he's happy to offer suggestions of the best local restaurant or outing for any occasion.
Spoiler: it's La Reve and The Domes.
