Siba Sokupa joined the Doerfler lab in 2024 as a Research Technician. She earned her degree in Biomedical Sciences at Advent Health University in Orlando Florida before moving to Milwaukee. She started at the Eye Institute studying diabetic retinopathy before transitioning to Versiti Blood Research Institute.
Siba is currently focused on understanding the functional genomics behind hemoglobin switching in conditions such as sickle cell disease and β-thalassemia in order to develop effective gene therapies.
